Using a USB dongle

Instead of a file, QuickHMI can also be activated with a USB dongle. The advantage of the dongle is that there is no need to activate the license, i.e. no Internet connection is required.

Initializing the USB dongle

When you receive the USB dongle from us, it does not yet contain any data and cannot be used immediately to activate the Editor.

Please proceed as follows to set up your dongle:

  • Download the license file from the website, from your customer account. In the case of a USB dongle license, this is a .qini file that is used to set up a USB dongle.
  • Start the QuickHMI tool for dongle initializations by executing the “QHMIDongleWriter.exe” in the installation path of the QuickHMI Editor.
  • Connect the USB dongle to your PC.
  • Select the previously downloaded .qini file in the lower area of the program.
  • Click on “Initialize” to start the write process.
  • You can now use the USB dongle to activate the QuickHMI Editor.

Updating the USB dongle

Follow the steps above if you receive an upgrade for your dongle (e.g. for a new version or edition).
